Alien Rescue in VR
Experiencing Alien Rescue in VR requires a PCVR setup. All major VR headsets will work: Vive, Index, HP, and Quest (tethered or Air Link). The minimum graphics card requirements are a Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD RX 570 with a minimum of 8GB of RAM. As with any VR gaming experience, the more powerful the computer, the smoother the frame rate and visuals. We highly recommend using a wired ethernet connection rather than wi-fi, as social VR performs best with a wired connection.
Alien Rescue is a 70 minute long action/adventure experience with a lot of movement, so it’s important that you’re comfortable with flying, running and climbing in VR. If you are prone to VR motion sickness or are still getting your “VR legs”, consider our Desktop Mode instead.
Alien Rescue in Desktop Mode
We offer a desktop mode for people without VR equipment or for those who prefer a 2D option. Any modern PC with a dedicated graphics card will work for Alien Rescue in Desktop Mode. (Mac is unsupported at this time). Alien Rescue in Desktop Mode requires Headphones and a Microphone. Using headphones eliminates echo, so please use them.
Alien Rescue runs on the NeosVR platform (free on Steam). Click on the link below to create your Neos account, then come back here for the next step. Please write down your Neos username as we will require that later in the process.
You do not need to download and install Neos right now, just create your account.
The Hero ticket puts you right in the center of the action, where you have the freedom to say and do whatever you want, and even affect the outcome of the story. You’ll role-play with our cast, who will talk and improvise with you along the way. The price is $30 (excluding Eventbrite fees), and is only available for VR mode.
The Sidekick ticket lets you watch the performance from the perspective of a tiny Eyebot that you can fly around the scene. You won’t speak, but you will have more agency than you might expect, and the cast will talk to you and treat you like one of the team. We offer fifteen Sidekick tickets per show, so it’s a great option for friends and groups. The price is $10 (excluding Eventbrite fees) and this ticket is available in both VR or Desktop mode.
Now you’re ready to find a date/time and book your ticket. We’ll ask you for your Neos username so have that handy. Once you purchase your ticket, we will send you a follow up email with instructions on how to install and learn Neos, and what to expect on the day of the performance.

We offer Private Shows to individuals, groups, and organizations. A Private Show is a great way to celebrate a special event, it’s an incredible present to give someone. It’s a wonderful team-building opportunity for work groups.
Alien Rescue is performed as part of the MetaMovie Project, an ongoing research project exploring the possibilities and potential for live performance in Virtual Reality. We will regularly schedule Experimental Shows in order to test new ideas. Keep an eye on our Calendar if you are interested in participating.
